How to Find Older Yamaha Motorcycle Parts
Whether you just like having your old bike look new again,
or are trying to be a biker on a budget,
knowing how to find older Yamaha motorcycle
parts can be a major part of being able to do it.
If you have a Yamaha bike, you know it can be costly to keep
it going over time. Just like a car, bikes have parts that are
going to wear out and break down. If you have a new bike, you
can just go into any bike shop and get the parts. But, the
older the bike is, the harder it may be to find those parts,
unless you know where to look.
When you are working to fix up an older bike, you are going
to need to do a little research. Get to know the bike and the
parts you need to find to get it back into running shape.
Then you need to start shopping. Here are a few places to
look.

Bike Shop – While not all bike shops make a
habit of stocking older parts, there are plenty of them that do
a lot of service work, and may well have the parts you need on
hand. They will be charging you top dollar for them, though. If
you are on a budget, you may want to consider a different
purchase path.
Junk Yards - There are a lot of people
wrecking bikes out there. Many of them don’t try to fix up
their bike after the crash, they just send it to the junk yard.
This can be a great place for you to find a part you need and
cheap. Often a junkyard will let you pull whatever pieces you
need off of a bike for just a few bucks. As long as that part
is not what was damaged in the crash, it's a great deal.
EBay – You can find anything for sale on
eBay, and that includes older Yamaha motorcycle parts. Do an
eBay search for the part you need. The more specific you make
the search, the shorter and more focused the results list will
be. Always check the shipping price before bidding on an item.
Many sellers mark shipping prices up to make a bigger
profit.
Craigs List – Another place to find pretty
much anything is craigslist.org. You can post a message on the
website letting other Yamaha riders know you are looking for
particular parts and if they have them, they will let you know,
and give you a price. You can also look around to see if
someone has already put the items you need up for sale.
It used to be if you wanted to fix an older vehicle of any
sort you would have to search high and low to try and find that
one person who may have what you are looking for. Thanks to
technology and the advent of the Internet, even if you can't
find things locally, you can now find those older
Yamaha motorcycle parts quickly, no matter where they
are in the world.
